Poker Tips
Poker is a game that relies on luck and skill. Even if you don't have a good hand you can still win by bluffing your opponents in to thinking you have a better hand than them.
Every week we will bring you some great poker tips to help you out class your casino dealer and opponents and give you a better chance of winning.
We start with giving you 5 top tips to playing poker.
1. When starting out playing poker you will be wanting to play every hand that is dealt to you. This is a mistake! The more you play does not neccessarily mean you will win more, you are likely to lose more than you will win. Play the hands which only give you a high chance of winning. The best starting poker hands are pairs followed by high cards: A/A, K/K, Q/Q, J/J, A/K, A/Q etc.
2. Don't try to bluff too often, it may just back-fire on you. Bluffing is a skill on it's own and you need to know when the right time to do this. Play a few hands and see how people play and react to certain calls.
3. Don't play when you are drunk as this leads to calls, raises and bluffs that you would not neccessarily do when sober. This is a sure way to exit the game quicker than you had anticipated.
4. Quite while you can. Just because you have bet a few dollars in to the kitty does not mean you have to stay in the hand. If it is getting too hot for you and your hand is starting to look less of a winning hand then you are probably right. If the stakes are getting higher than the possibility of other players having a better hand than you will be high.
5. Pay attention! When the first 3 cards are drawn (The Flop) pay attention to what possibly hands could be the better. The fourth card (The River) will increase or decrease the hand you are your opponents possibly have. When the fifth card (The Turn) has been drawn it is only now you will know if your hand is good enough and have an idea of what your opponents may have. Unless your cards match up to the flop it is usually too early to tell how good your hand is.
